Running a business is challenging, especially if you run a salon, spa, or clinic and work both on and in your business. It’s normal to reach a stage where you’re considering “what next?” and pondering what to do to take your business to the next level and realise your full potential (and profits).
That’s why so many hair and beauty business owners are now turning to the expertise of a business coach.
But how can you tell if you are ready to hire a coach for your business, and whether they will be able to help you grow your business?
I have outlined some key reasons salon business owners would benefit from the help of an expert business coach.
1. You Are Feeling Overwhelmed
2. You Have Reached Your Peak
3. You Are Not growing
4. You Require Help With Processes
5. You Want a Better Work-Life Balance
6. You Have Become Complacent
7. You Want To Be a Better Business Owner and Leader
1. You Are Feeling Overwhelmed
The first sign that it’s time for a coach is when you hit that feeling of being overwhelmed. There seems to be too much to do and not enough hours in the day, leaving you feeling overwhelmed. Not knowing how much money you will make at the end of the month overwhelms you. Furthermore, you feel out of control in regards to your company, your workers, and your suppliers, which has left you feeling overwhelmed.
2. You Have Reached Your Peak
It’s time to get a coach whenever you believe you have gone as far as you can on your own.
As a business owner, you will have strengths and weaknesses. You will excel in your skills, but you may have been disregarding your weaknesses. At that point, you should work with a coach to advance your performance by enhancing your strengths and, more importantly, addressing your weaknesses.
3. You Are Not Growing
Another reason to hire a business coach is if your revenue and profits have flat-lined. Sometimes we think we know the right path to take in our career growth or business growth, but we come to find it isn’t working. If your salon hasn’t had any significant growth for a while and you’re at a loss as to what to do about it, a coach can help you to increase ROI, surge active engagement, and allow one to remove obstacles that are precluding results.
4. You Require Help With Processes
To make our procedures as effective as possible, they occasionally need to be cleaned up. Your current processes will be viewed by a business coach with new eyes and a distinct viewpoint, which will enable you to improve them or develop entirely new ones.
You may need help in reviewing (or creating) your hiring process, training or marketing programme, your pricing or your numbers. A coach can help you with all of it.
5. You Want a Better Work-Life Balance
Your personal life is equally as vital as your business. A business coach can help you to identify the inefficiencies in your business, and how to maximise your time giving you more freedom to choose where to spend it.
It all comes down to having more options. Because time is one thing you can never get back, it’s critical that your business allows you to be financially independent while still having time to spend with your loved ones, go on holiday and pursue your passions.
You will feel better about your business and yourself when you know everything there is to know to achieve the perfect work-life balance.
6. You Have Become Complacent
Sometimes when we’ve been doing something for a long time we can become comfortable and complacent. But that’s not how great businesses are made.
You might feel that your business has grown a little stale or that you are losing focus and require some accountability. A coach can inspire you and assist you in giving your business a fresh lease of life. A coach can help a good business become a great business.
7. You Want To Be a Better Business Owner and Leader
If you want to become the best leader you can be, a business coach can help you to improve your leadership skills so you can better support your team and create a positive, high performing culture.
It will take a lot of new learning to advance you to the next level because what you now know has brought you to this point. The best thing for you, your company, and your team is to have a coach. It assists you in developing your leadership abilities, which results in a happier and more productive team, increased business growth, and a clearer understanding of your potential.
How to choose the best business coach for you!
Let’s assume that you’ve made the decision to hire a business coach. Great! What’s next?
There are so many coaches to choose from, every day, I see ads for business coaches. Some have never grown a business, or managed a team of people, or know what it takes to scale to 7 figures and beyond, so it’s important to find your perfect fit.
Some will offer online programmes, some provide group coaching sessions, and some offer one-on-one coaching. The key is to find the coach that suits your needs best.
They Must Be Industry Specific
Make sure the coach you choose has experience within your industry.
Find a coach who has experience in your industry and has already taken the entrepreneurial journey before you. They should have firsthand knowledge of what it’s like to be in your position and experience resolving many of the common issues we have as owners of businesses in the hair and beauty industry.
Prior to Committing, Schedule a Consultation.
It’s important that you understand exactly what you’re getting when you hire a coach, so I recommend booking a consultation first. A coach might call this a discovery call or meeting. They will ask you many questions at this appointment, so bring all of your inquiries with you. If you’d like, bring a support person with you, such as your accountant or partner.
Find out if you get regular access to the coach. With some programmes you might not ever get to speak to the coach, you just watch the online content, others provide 24/7 support. If you want someone you can call to discuss a problem – you need access to support.
